Sited on the curve of the Huangpu River’s north Bund, the 260,000 sqm Shanghai International Cruise Terminal was completed in 2011 and won the Best Mixed Use Award at MIPIM Asia 2011. This new gateway to Shanghai combines a series of headquarters office buildings with 40,000 sqm of retail set within a new 1km long riverside park. Cultural and social spaces form the centrepiece of the development – an extraordinary composition of suspended enclosures named the ‘Shanghai Chandelier’. The project also uses the latest in renewable energy systems including the first use in Shanghai of river water-cooling technology.
