12000 sqm | Placemaking, Landscape, Waterfront

Bahrain Bay is a landmark 1,450,000 sqm development in the Kingdom of Bahrain, envisioned as a modern metropolis and the driving force for the redevelopment of the Manama City waterfront. Spark was commissioned to design all of the public space and landscape between the building plots, the cohesive element that links the footprints and disparate scales of building designs into a unique and extraordinary environment. Spark’s proposals include bespoke retail units, shading structures, pontoon and jetty structures, wind towers, playgrounds, hardscape, softscape, street furniture, lighting design, signage and way finding, and water feature design.

“THE DESIGN TAKES ADVANTAGE OF THE STRONG INFRASTRUCTURE LINKS TO CONNECT THE DEVELOPMENT DIRECTLY TO THE PRIMARY ROAD AND RAIL NETWORKS, AND MAXIMISES THE OPPORTUNITY OFFERED BY THE ELEVATED HIGHWAY VIEWS BY CLADDING THE NORTHERN ELEVATION WITH BESPOKE ADVERTISING BILLBOARDS, CREATING DISTINCTIVE FACADES AND A VISUAL SIGNPOST FOR THE DEVELOPMENT“
